Manager of Local Food Initiatives and Social Enterprise

The Manager of Local Food Initiatives and Social Enterprise is responsible for the management and growth of our sold meals program, local foods initiatives and other related projects with a focus on excellent customer service. Works closely with the kitchen and delivery departments to ensure compliance with contractual agreements. Works closely with the development and marketing department to develop an effective, cost efficient marketing campaign for our sold meals, farmers market, etc. Works closely with the Program staff in addressing barriers to healthful eating for underserved populations. Responsible for investigating and identifying potential customers, community partners and possible new social enterprise initiatives. Reports to: Vice President of Programs Labor Status: Non-union position
 

Position Responsibilites

-Manage marketing for the sold meals program, local food initiatives and other social enterprise projects as identified by Senior Management

-Assess and negotiate contractual agreements

-Conduct site visits and train customers to ensure safe food handling practices

-Ensure excellent customer service with all potential, current and past customers and partners.

-Ensure that Community Servings is in compliance of all state and federal guidelines for school, elder and other related meals programs.

-Managing of billing for sold meals and other income generating projects.

-Management of farmers' market, the herb garden and other identified local foods initiatives.

-Coordinate our annual CSA and CSF. Recruit members and coordinate distributions of shares.


Position Requirements

-Initiative to develop a plan and implement it effectively with little supervision.

-Ability to work effectively with employees, volunteers, and customers.

-Ability to work cooperatively with other departments in order to meet functional responsibilities to our customers.

-Comfortable working in both an office and professional kitchen environment.

-Comfortable reaching out to new potential customers and partners.

-Strong customer service background and entrepreneurial spirit.

-Clean driving record and a department of transportation health card for driving commercial vehicles.

-ServSafe Certified

Experience: Three (3) to five years (5) in marketing and customer relations. Three (3) to five years (5) working in a professional kitchen, catering business preferred. A background and understanding of food policy and local food initiatives. Management experience preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university and five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
