Community Nutritionist

Under the guidance of the Registered Dietitian, the Community Nutritionist participates in all service components of the nutrition program. Provides nutrition counseling and nutrition education for clients and community members. Works with Registered Dietitian to develop nutrition education materials. Works closely with kitchen staff to develop and execute nutritionally and culturally appropriate menus. Assists in the development and implementation of quality assurance monitoring tools and special projects. This position works collaboratively with other departments on nutrition and wellness-related issues. Reports To: Registered Dietitian Labor Status:Non-union Position; 20 hours/week
 

Position Responsibilites

-Provides individual nutritional counseling over the phone or in-home.

-Provides nutrition education for meal delivery clients via monthly nutrition newsletters

-Prepares and presents nutrition education workshops to clients and other community based organizations

-Develop menus according to specific medical requirements, and the requirements of social enterprise initiatives, such as the National School Lunch Program and Elder Services

-Works on special projects including conferences, workshops, educational materials and outreach to new clients as assigned by the Registered Dietitian

-Maintains continuous quality improvement, including nutritional analysis of meals, incidental food safety monitoring, evaluating nutrition education programs

-Assists in the maintenance of nutritional supplements distribution records for reporting purposes

-Supervises Nutrition Interns


Position Requirements

-Experience in all aspects of community nutrition, including outpatient counseling, nutrition education, and food service including: odeveloping menus according to specific medical needs odeveloping and conducting nutrition education programs and workshops

-Excellent speaking and writing skills -Excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills required

-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

-Valid Massachusetts license and clean driving history; able to successfully pass Criminal Offenders Records Inquiry (CORI) Background check

-B.S. in Nutrition required, R.D. preferred

-Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
