Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

For the 6th year, Community Servings staff and volunteers participated in the annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Loni Zelfon, our Community Nutritionist, walked 39 miles for this two day event, and our kitchen staff prepared close to 6,000 meals to feed walkers on both days. Meanwhile, staff and volunteers cheered on walkers at two locations along the route, handing out 8,000 freshly baked cookies.

Avon has been a long-time supporter of Community Servings and our clients with breast cancer. Through their funding over the past several years, we have provided 147,060 free home-delivered meals to 347 women with breast cancer, their caregivers and dependents. We have distributed 775 care packages of soup, juice, and crackers to those experiencing nausea due to treatment. Also, with Avon's help we have produced nutrition education materials and conducted an annual nutrition seminar for those with breast cancer, their families and friends, and community partners.

A big thank you to Avon, our volunteers and Loni!
